This afternoon in Transfiguration we were talking about transfigurations that are considered impossible. I said that we should add "Transfiguring Ron Weasley into a genius" to the list. Professor Carrow gave Ravenclaw five points!

I've told Linus and Belinda and Morag. Su Li will probably notice that it's Parvati but she won't say anything, not to Weasley at any rate.

Parvati told Lav so she'll sit with us tomorrow. And I mentioned it to Malfoy and Smith. Malfoy knows better than to warn Parkinson and Perks, too.

I think we're in good stead to go.

but sometimes I wish I were in Gryffindor.

Not because I want to be a Gryffindor. But because Parvati and Lavender are there.

Belinda and Morag, of course, they're trying. But it's not quite the same.

So, Finnigan, I know I told you I'd be in the library tonight and we could work on History Club. I guess Troy was a little short with you when you came to Ravenclaw Corner looking for me.

What happened was, Sandoval said the Headmistress wanted to see me. Me and Parvati, in fact.

I didn't know what to expect, so I thought at first maybe we were in some kind of trouble. You know, I think that's what everyone thinks because you never think it's going to be something so

Sorry. It's sort of hard to write it all out.

Um.

Professor McGonagall had an open firechat going and it was our parents. Mum was crying and Dad's voice sounded sort of scratchy.

They said Sanji's missing.

I guess he didn't come home from playing, or something. So when it started to get dark, Mum and Dad got really worried and they called MLE. And they're out looking for him. There's a bulletin or an alert or something going out on the wireless in case anyone's seen anything. And the Aurors are organising a sweep of the parkland.

Including the ponds.

So, they said they'd keep Professor McGonagall informed about it and the Auror in charge of the search will let them know through the night what's going on, if they find any evidence of what happened, or what.

Oh, I didn't say, I guess the neighbourhood kids were all at the park near our house, where we usually play. And they said they saw a man, and then later they found this puppy. It's kind of sad because you know Sanji wanted wants a puppy so badly. They made sure he wasn't transfigured or anything, but it's a real puppy, not Sanji turned into a puppy. So I guess they're also trying to find out whose puppy it is. And who the man was.

But in the meantime Dad said they'd keep the puppy for now. In case Sanji gets back.

So, yeah. I guess I just wish Parvati and me could be together tonight.

which makes two in a row! And it's perfect because today Parvati and Rohani, Johns, Goshal and I are celebrating Holi after lunch. We'll be down by the lake, Goshal and Johns had this wonderful idea to use water to create all the colour sprays since there's only five of us, and then we only have to conjure the powder. (Though if anyone else wants to come, that'd be nift, it works best when there's loads of people.) Last year we also had Goshal's and Rohani's sisters, so at least we had a rainbow. So come join if you like! It's one of my favourite festivals, because by the end everyone looks like they've been hit by colourbombs.

I guess we're not likely to go home at Easter. Parvati's sort of homesick about it, but I told her that it's not so terribly bad to be stuck here. I'm sure we'll go home by summer, anyway. And I know there will be loads of things to do, besides start revising for exams. I heard someone say the professors who teach the extra courses are going to hold open houses of sorts, but that might just be a rumour. The idea I heard was to give people a taster of what their subjects will be like. But as we'll already have chosen our subjects it's rather odd to come behind with a sampling, isn't it? Perhaps if someone really gets cold feet, they could go to their head of house and change their mind, and switch to something else. I dunno. I'm quite pleased with my slate and I think it'll be quite enough to be going on with.

Anyway, I don't think it's really the thing to be homesick. I mean, look at Sandoval. She was supposed to have a really amazing party over the holidays, where she got formally introduced to everyone in society, and the Lord Protector was maybe even going to be there, and they've had to postpone that. But she's not going round all broken up about it. She's just going about her business. I mean, not that she's not disappointed, because she was very much looking forward to it, who wouldn't? But she's not moping or anything. She's concentrating on what we can do to make the best of the situation.

I've been thinking about how we can all make the best of it, and I think one thing is that we should take this as an opportunity to all get on better. There've been some childish things going on lately - like that nonsense yesterday with those silly girls trying to give redheads a kiss, honestly, who'd ever believe that it's good luck? - and with Stretton and Bole and getting their hoards confiscated, and that whole business with Archer's uncle, I guess it's been sort of rough for a lot of people. But now the weather's improving and term is nearly half over and, well, if we're going to be kept together for even longer, I think we should all get along a little better.

And I remembered that last year we had those music parties once in a while and that really seemed to help with the tension, so Parvati and I are going to host one. Saturday, after the YPL meeting and supper. Everyone's invited; I asked Professor Vector and she said we could use the really large dungeon left of the Potions corridor, as it's almost as big as the Great Hall. And we're asking for extra pudding, and of course if anyone wants to bring music to share we'll take it in turns.

I think we should each try to get to know at least one other person we've never talked to before, too. Because everyone has a different way of looking at things and different families and traditions, and part of being at school all together like this is a chance to learn about different types of people.

Thanks again for inviting us.

Do you think Parvati could spend time with your tutor? Mum and Dad are saying she can't come tomorrow because her marks were so poor and she's got to stay here to revise.

But I thought maybe if we told them that she can revise and come to the party, then they might change their minds.

What do you think? Would Mr Rosier mind?

Oh, and the robe pets will be in production before the camping trip, Mum says. I wanted to bring you one as a thank-you but they're not ready.

Dad says I could bring you some music. What do you like?

Owls!

Our owls came with our final marks.

Mum and Dad are really happy with mine (well, how could they not be?! I'm chuffed - I knew I'd get good marks but I thought I'd do worse in Transfiguration), but they're sort of yelling at Parvati about hers. They probably think I should've done more to help her along.

I know I should feel bad about that, but it's impossible when mine are so wizard.

At least Parvati did well in Defence. We both did! Who got 100%, though? Someone did because we're not first in that and we both had 99's.

Unless someone got more than 100% - that's not possible, is it?

Oh. You don't have to say if you don't want to do. Mum says it's not attractive to gloat.

my other pair of barrettes? I can't find them on my nightstand and I think maybe you've packed them already. And I think you have my gold spiral earrings, too?

Also, I found another copy of the last issue of Witch Weekly - is it yours, Lavender? Or Daphne's? There's one last unopened Robe Pet. Does anyone want it for the train?

FINISHED!

I'm ALL DONE for the YEAR!

Thank Ganesh I've had Smith for a partner in Potions for the last part of the term. Even though we were on our own today, I just know that if I'd been dragging Hopkins along with me, I wouldn't have done nearly so well on the final exam.

Oh, and Mum and Dad, yes, everyone's in a right state about Transfiguration, but honestly it wasn't that bad. It was, oh, you know - random, that's the word - but really not too terrible, if you've been paying attention. I was quite surprised.  (Parvati's still probably not going to do as well, even though I tried making her revise)

And look! I've figured out how to Transfigure the ink to something more interesting than boring old black.

Oh, Draco, happy birthday! I saw all those owls, as well as your usual one. Your dad's, I mean. Wow.

Professor Lockhart said to me today that he wished he had known yesterday was my birthday! Thats just what he said too: 'I wish I had known.' And he said I'm about the cleverest witch in our year! And he wished me happy 'belated' birthday in front of the whole class! I thought I'd die I was so embarrassed!!

But it was a really nift birthday, anyway. Mum and Dad sent shoes and a new Solstice Night album and one by Ranjeet Mukerjhee. And we got earrings and a little tiny phial of perfume each, and real henna! and of course birthday cakes. And Haruman charmed some ice cream so it would stay frozen until we ate it. Chocolate for me and strawberry for Parvati.

It was brill I love birthdays.

Oh and Lav? I LOVE IT!!! Thanks again - it's utterly perfect.

Oh, ha-ha

Professor Vector said that every year someone tries to tell her why ravens are like writing desks - I told Linus that the 3rd-years were having us on, but he was so sure we could get 100 points for Ravenclaw.

And by the way, Finnigan, you completely deserved what Parvati and Lavender did. Honestly.

Boys are such morons.

(Just for the record, no, Chambers and Bradley did not push me into a bathroom cubicle and seal it. That was Su Li, and we don't look a thing alike, so stop asking about it, Smith!)

least of all the Prophet, but I'm not jellous of Parvati!

(Not even when she told me that Professor Lockhart said she looked almost as good as his cover photo from Witch Weekly)

I mean, sure, anyone would of wanted to be her Monday. But its okay. I still got a good seat and the marzipan and everything, and I didnt have to have my photo taken over and over. Plus Mum says so many people have been in the shop this week to ask about it that she's putting Parvati's dress into production.

Does anyone know what our Charms homework is? I kept having to sneak peeks at the journal because the reporters keep pestering me.

Oh - and Lavender! I almost forgot! Haruman mentioned a name, a girl's name! Someone from his training programme I think. Hannah or Anna, I couldn't quite hear with all the other people talking in the Great Hall last night. So perhaps he has been dating, after all!

Parvati

Mum and Dad are so proud of her! And so am I! Even Haruman was here and Parvati looked just beautiful. She was perfect - she told me she'd been practising all weekend to make sure she didn't do anything silly.

And the feast is amazing. I saw Marvolo go up to see the Lord Protector, but then he went back to his table.

Parvati led it away but then Professor Macnair took it after that. Did anyone see what happened next? We were wondering where it is now.

Lavender. Did Parvati tell you what's going on? All she said was that the Headmistress called her into her office but that she wasn't in trouble about anything. She said she isnt supposed to talk about it but that Mum and Dad were really happy when they heard.

Has she said anything to you?

(I would tell Ronald Weasley that he and Longbum are filthy mudblood lovers but I dont think its at all dignified to get involved in there journals. I'd rather not have any of my writing even in Weasel's journal, thankyouverymuch. I know Seamus says theyre allright really but I dunno how they can be when theyre so wrong all the time and so thick about it.)
