I thought History Club went really well, don't you? I'm glad we decided to focus on more recent stuff this year, I think it's well relevant compared to, say, wars from three hundred years ago or something.

I wish we were going to Hogsmeade this weekend instead of next! You've got your forms from Mr Rosier, right? Only Midgen hasn't got hers yet and she's been moaning about it for days. This morning she got an owl and she was positively beaming, but then it turned out it was just a letter from her foster parents telling her they'd had a note from Professor Acton. She'd written them because Midgen's marks are well lower than last year's! Her face got all red and I've never seen anyone go from smile to scowl quite so fast! At least they didn't send her a Howler, for her sake, but it would have been well classic if they had done!

Are you up for revising tonight or are you going to sit with Hooper again? Isn't it funny his taking an interest in helping you with Arithmancy like that? Well, it's making an improvement, whatever he's done. Only if you're going to revise with him I'll tell Thomas that it's a Ravenclaw Corner night. So let me know?

I agree, History club was excellent. And yes, Mr Rosier sent my permission letter back with me when I got back from the summer, along with some pocket money to use in town. I can't wait.

I'm meeting Geoff Hooper again to work on Arithmancy again, it's really complicated but he's good at explaining.

Everyone says to go to Honeyduke's first because otherwise they'll sell out of everything. But I dunno, I think if everyone goes there then there'll be a huge queue and it seems like you could go to the other shops and then Honeyduke's and still get in the queue before the others have finished.

Besides, I don't need sweets, I'd rather go to Scrivenshaft's anyway. Or Dervish and Banges, Dames says they've got loads of nift gadgets and all.

Which bit are you finding the most complicated? I think the equations are well impossible, but maybe they'll be easier for you now you're doing star charts in Divination too? That's three lessons with stars in: Divination, Astronomy and Arithmancy. I guess I don't quite see how one can time a spell so that it goes off at the exact moment of an equinox, say, or...like, the exact time Mars is in retrograde. Seems like it would be really hard. Arithmancers must have to keep on eye on their clocks all the time! But if Hooper can explain it to you that's good. Most of the Ravenclaw Corner chaps take Arithmancy, too, so I get loads of help when I need it.

Should we work on Charms over the weekend? I think I figured out the trick to that knot-tying charm.
