I'd missed it till you pointed it out -- thanks! I reckon you're right, it's just a stray. I'm a little surprised the Weasley twins haven't hunted it down to adopt it like they did with Carrow's mudblood when he was a dog.
I've been owling with Mr Rosier, trying to work out who best to write to. I think you should write to Mr Leach if you'd prefer Potioneering. Surely you'll get into the summer YPL training regardless, so why not write to whomever you're interested in?
Here's the thing: when I finish school, I want to go back to Ireland and set things a bit more right, but in loads of different ways. I could write to Mr Scrimgeour to say I want to go into MLE in Ireland to put a stop to the Muggle uprising once and for all. Or I could write to Mr Selwyn to say I want to work in his department, overseeing Ireland. (Ireland's in the Protectorate so the Department of Protectorate Affairs includes them but in reality they're left to their own devices quite a lot.) Or I could write to Mr Malfoy who doesn't have an official Ministry job -- Mr Rosier seems to think he'd be a good person to write to, anyway.
I don't know. It's irritating that Weasley's got his done already. I thought surely he'd be one of the last ones in.
