Private message to Pansy Parkinson
Parkinson, is it true that Greengrass sent those roses she got back to whomever sent them? Do you know why?
Only we reckoned they came from Zabini, you know, as a thank-you or whatever for that party she threw for him. Except Dames saw her returning them, so that doesn't make any sense if it was Zabini.
I'd ask her herself but I figure she's probably asleep. And I know you're up late a lot of nights.

See, Daphne was worried about what she'd heard about how her performance in the play was received by Auror Crouch, because apparently he didn't like it. Even though he didn't see the play at all. So she wrote him to apologise, and say she didn't mean any disrespect.
So the flowers were actually from him, right? For the play.
Only they were red. I'd bet he had an assistant order them for him who didn't know any better, but she didn't want anything to seem improper, or give the wrong impression to Blaise, so she sent them back. At least that's why I think she sent them back.
But that's who they are from.
